Rangers 3-0 Livingston- Match Report

Last updated : 12 September 2015
Rangers register perfect 10 as they beat LivingstonRangers made it a perfect 10 wins out of 10 under boss Mark Warburton as they saw off Livingston with a 3-0 win at Ibrox.Lee Wallace smashed the hosts ahead after 16 minutes before Martyn Waghorn put daylight between the teams four minutes from half-time.Substitute Nicky Law rounded off the victory when he smashed home the third 10 minutes from the end.Even with second-placed Falkirk fighting back to claim a 3-2 win at St Mirren, Warburton will still confident of his ability to fulfil chairman Dave King's demand that he secures automatic promotion come the end of the campaign with his side five points in front at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship. But while the former Brentford boss named the same side which shone in the 5-0 romp over Raith Rovers last weekend, the sparkle was not quite as bright against Livi.On loan Spurs youngster Nathan Oduwa won rave reviews for his part in that demolition job on the Kirkcaldy side but while the winger was always quick to show his skills there was rarely an end product.A crowd of 44,832 turned out for the annual Armed Services Day celebrations at Ibrox and 15 minutes after the match ball was delivered to referee Greg Aitken by two abseiling soldiers who had descended from the roof of the Sandy Jardine Stand, Wallace rifled Gers ahead. The goal came from a free-kick and while the routine did not look exactly as it had been planned on the training ground it worked effectively enough as Andy Halliday and Barry McKay combined before Wallace stepped forward to bullet his 25-yard strike past Darren Jamieson.Waghorn had missed a golden chance with just four minutes gone and felt hard done by again midway through the half when he tumbled at the feet of Declan Gallagher inside the box - but Aitken waved away the Englishman's penalty appeals. But it was not all one-way traffic

Gers stopper Wes Foderingham had earlier given his team a fright when he spilled the ball at Liam Buchanan's feet before recovering

There was a more assured look about the Light Blues number one after half an hour though as he turned away the Livi striker's 25-yard effort with a stunning one-handed save.James Tavernier came close to scoring his third free-kick of the season but tugged it wide. However, the home side did extend their lead five minutes before the break as Waghorn made the most of some clever decoy runs from Halliday and Gedion Zelalem as he span past two markers before crashing a low strike off the base of Jamieson's left-hand post and into the net.The second half was a more pedestrian affair but the visitors were unable to trip up Warburton's relentless Rangers.Victory was sealed in the 80th minute as Law collected Kenny Miller's reverse pass before slamming a firm shot into the roof of the net.So far, there has been little to worry Warburton's new-look side from their second-tier rivals - a tougher task awaits them on Tuesday night when they face Premiership side St Johnstone in the League Cup third round
