Martyn Waghorn scores after penalty miss as Rangers edge out Queen of the SouthMartyn Waghorn maintained Rangers' perfect league record with a last-minute header against Queen of the South - a minute after missing a penalty.Waghorn headed home Nathan Oduwa's cross to earn Rangers a 2-1 win at Ibrox as the hosts finally recovered from going behind for the first time in their Ladbrokes Championship campaign.Derek Lyle stunned Ibrox with a close-range finish before the break to notch his fourth goal against Rangers in six months, and Queens looked like holding on after Jason Holt's equaliser when Robbie Thomson saved Waghorn's spot-kick.It was Waghorn's first failure in eight attempts but he soon guided home a header from eight yards to claim his 15th goal of the season and make it 10 victories from 10 games for Mark Warburton's team.Rangers were on the attack within seconds of kick-off and the opening stages resembled a training-ground game of attack against defence, especially when Lyle went off for an extended spell of treatment for a cut to the face. But the Queens players were throwing themselves in the way of shots and Kenny Miller struck over following a cutback by Barrie McKay, who was tormenting right-back Kyle Jacobs.Queens winger Alex Harris shot just beyond the far post from the left edge of the box but Rangers resumed their dominance and Thomson produced a good diving stop from Waghorn's curling shot. But Ibrox fell silent in the 35th minute when Ryan Conroy's corner was flicked on by Chris Higgins for Lyle to side-foot home.Rangers almost replied instantly when Dean Shiels dinked the ball over the Queens defence but Waghorn failed to get hold of his volley. The hosts managed to find another gear at the start of the second half and James Tavernier's free-kick flashed past before Thomson made a one-handed stop from Waghorn. But the equaliser soon came in the 53rd minute when Holt beat the offside trap to run on to Tavernier's pass and drill a shot across Thomson, just inside the post from a tight angle.Rangers were almost ahead within two minutes but McKay sliced Kenny Miller's cross wide from eight yards.Harris soon had a shot saved but Queens were on the back foot again as Rangers kept working their way into the visitors' box.Waghorn curled just wide after a Lee Wallace shot was blocked and Holt had another strike deflected just wide.Queens almost snatched another when substitute Liam Coogans was played through, only to shoot unconvincingly to allow Wes Foderingham to get down to save. They were looking resolute until a Higgins trip on Andy Halliday earned the hosts a penalty and Waghorn quickly bounced back after Thomson dived to his right to parry his spot-kick
